When you are “the geeky guy who knows everything about computers” you know that there is one thing you should never do: letting you family and friends get your phone number. Let’s be honest, that would be weird and very inconvenient. So, you learn to deal with it and now you have the privilege to be the official “helpdesk” of the whole family… and the “helpdesk” of friends of friends of the family… – yuck!

One of the most common questions is about parental control. Believe us, that’s a tricky one! Many solutions exist but they are quite unsatisfying: difficult to install, to manage, to use… Most of the time parents and children end up very frustrated and sometimes unable to correctly use their computer! Today, it’s worst: with all the connected devices like tablets, video game consoles and smart TVs, the problem is even wider.

Based on these observations, we though that it would be a great idea to provide an answer to this growing problem. Parents have less and less time with their busy time to constantly supervise their children when they go online, connected devices are everywhere in the house and children spend more and more time on the Internet… We found the perfect technical compromise to build a strong and nice solution and decided to start building a “Proof of Concept” for it.

While we were spending our time to build our proof of concept, we were widely talking about our idea to various families and partners (incubators, bankers, advisors, etc.). It was – and is still – the best way to understand what people truly want and what are their daily struggles of letting their kids using the Internet. We started to realize the true potential of our idea and decided to go further in the adventure.

Launching our start-up in Luxembourg was obvious for us as we were looking for a country with a dynamic and young entrepreneurial eco-system, with people open to business development all over Europe. Luxembourg is a perfect lab to develop and test innovative ideas in a small and agile environment and validate a product ready to launch in a global context. We started to gather information from main actors (Technoport, LuxInnovation, Chambre de Commerce, etc.) in Luxembourg to help us define our incorporation project.

It is now official, Savety is born! Loïc et Benoit – the co-founders –  gathered together their personal savings, drop their jobs and finally started to work full time on this amazing project. To help us in this adventure, we have been offered the great opportunity to join the “pre-sales” program in a renowned incubator.

We are kindly hosted in the co-working space at Technoport, the technology-oriented business incubator located in Belval, Luxembourg (a city with a futuristic and industrial architectural design). There, we have access to insightful people to coach us and help us develop our idea to success. We also had the opportunity to be selected (20 start-ups among 130+ applications) to pitch for the Fit4Start contest: we did not win the contest, but it was a good experience to pitch in front of a jury for the first time and answer their question, while we were just starting our business.
